In My Brokenness

Bless me in my brokenness
Give me eyes to see
Though my place be in the valley
There lies Your majesty

With my broken wings
Give me wind to fly
Though it may be only seconds
Give me strength to try

Help me reach my broken arms
To others in their need
Let them find some comfort
In my humanity

Remind me when I read Your word
That You were broken too
And it's because of Your brokenness
That I can be renewed

Though I find myself still broken
I'll keep reaching for Your love
Cause You're the one thing I can count on
You're the One that won't give up

Tradition

A statue stands in my living room
Six feet tall and a face of gloom
Handed down from father to son
Though the generations, this ugly one

No one's ever questioned
As oft as they've seen
He stands there, because...
Well that's how it's been

A tradition becomes
An eyesore at most
Put him in the fire
Let's have a roast

If there's no purpose
Why do I waste the space
Is there something else
I can put in his place
