Young Women of Uganda

Rescued from the bush
Delivered from their doom
Brought back into safety
To a home that still has room

Their arms carry nothing
But babes conceived in grief
Children, girls not eighteen yet
Crying for relief

Abandoned not by God
But by their families
Finding new salvation
Midst a war, they long for peace

Young women of Uganda
Is there victory in your pain
Can the nightmares find a closure
Will your spirits sing again

Can Canada embrace you
A response to meet your need
The hope we take forgranted
Is the hope for which you plead

Young women of Uganda
Your prayers have reached God's throne
Your cries have come to Canada
No more to cry alone

His favourite one of all

Magnificent King
Creator, Artist of the world
I find myself in the midst of your wonder
Your majesty unfurled
So small am I amidst it all
Yet not this picture is Your best
But the artistry you created in me
Is Your kingdom's treasure chest
Many wonders in this world
But yet I stand apart
In redeemed beauty because of You
I'm the closest to your heart
I will look at all creation
And see the fingerprints of God
But when I see my own reflection
I see His favourite one of all

Carry the dead

Carry the dead
Bring them honour
Fresh tears are shed for our country
Fresh wounds have bled for our freedom
For freedom everywhere
War is not just a memory, but a reality

Remember today your sons, your brothers, your husbands, your fathers
Going are the memories of wars long past
But here in our hearts is a pain still new

Canada, your sons are still dying
Leaving the children fatherless
Caskets wrapped in red and white
Come brave soldiers of a new millenium
Carry the dead
Bring them honour

Forgotten friend

( for C.L.)

It was some years past
That I said good bye
A bridge I thought I'd burned
I gave up hope of ever having
That friendship I'd once earned

But today I saw your face
And I remembered once again
The brother I once had
Someone that I called friend

Something came and damaged
That precious gift of mine
There's no use recollecting now
The past in all behind

Many choices have been made since then
Our worlds are different now
But have we forgiven what we've tried to forget
Has peace been our solemn vow

I know we'll meet again
In paradise some day
With Jesus in our midst
I wonder what we'll say

Will the past have been erased by then
Will we laugh or will we cry
When grace and mercy then prevail
As we stand at Jesus side

Now I sit at my computer
Wondering what now should I do
I've opened up a can of worms
Just thinking about you

But even if it's heaven's gates
I can wait until that end
Knowing, praying and thanking the Lord
For my forgotten friend
